In Episode 297, Lucien and Moose talk with Mark Lanterman, owner of Old School Models, about his history in RC as well as the awesome line of balsa kits that he produces.
In Episode 295, Moose and Lucien welcome Tom from Legend Hobby to talk about the shift from VQ Warbirds, the new airplanes they are working on, as well as other cool stuff they carry.
In Episode 294, Moose and Lucien welcome Bobby Watts from Watts Innovations to discuss the new Commercial Drone Products they are designing and building here in the USA.
In Episode 292, Moose and Lucien talk about Electric Power System Basics, go over all the various components in an electric power system, and discuss how to properly size and match all the component parts.
ATTF is Back! In this first new show in over 6 years, Lucien and Moose talk about what has been going on in their lives, discuss COVID's effect on the hobby and talk about motor efficiency and the new brand of BadAss Motors from Innov8tive Designs.
What started as a show about nothing turned out to be pretty interesting. We covered new products, full scale aviation, how digital cameras work, vibration isolating quadcopter frames, and tips and tricks for inverted flight for both planes and helis. Tune in!
Lucien, Moose, and Daniel are back with a quick show to talk about the Henderson, NC Fly-In, go over covering concepts with Willmsy, and bang out a few PSCs.
Getting a quick show in before the 4th, Daniel, Lucien, and Moose go over some new airplane releases, the basics of the inside loop, and a couple of PSC questions.
This week we finally enjoy the flying season now that it's at full throttle. (and the weather is cooperating!) Special guest Brian joins us to fill us in on the Carolina Speed Rally. Lucien helps us out with a few PSCs.
It has been a wonderful four years in the making and cultivating of attf. I have had so much
fun doing what I love, meeting new people and visiting with friends once a week to basically
BS about my favorite hobby. attf/IH has grown to be the worlds largest RC podcast in existence and without a great team, we could not have accomplished this.
For me, my hobbies have changed over the past year. I find myself wanting to do my new found love which is riding bikes. Not the peddle kind. That and my oldest son is getting to that age to where I can take him fishing and other boy things. Having me on attf is no longer
a benefit, but I feel only a hindrance to the show since my passion isn't RC any longer.
You, the listener deserves hosts that are passionate about what your passionate about.
Moose, Daniel and Lucien are all very talented RC hobbyist who are passionate about RC,
can take the attf helm and bring you a quality RC radio show that you as a listener
deserve.
I want to thank all the wonderful listeners.. so much for all the great feedback and putting
up with me over the years. You all have been very supportive. I'd also like to thank the
great vendors in this hobby. The vendors who have worked with attf in the past have
bent over backwards (in some cases ;) ) to support us and give us items to give our listeners.
I could not ask for anything better.
With that, I believe attf can only get better as these hosts take the show to greater levels
and maybe new things that attf hasn't done before.
I may start another project down the road, it's in my blood. But speaking of road..
No attf this week - (because we are all at SEFF!), however if you want to keep up on attf SEFF coverage with pic, vids, etc. They can be found in these locations:
Chris and Bobby chat with Clint Akins from Castle Creations, James misses another show, and everyone talks too much. WARNING: This is a two hour episode. Listen at your own risk!
It's a new year already?? Bobby reviews the Simstick and updates us on the Furion 6 build, Chris reports in on the Mini Protos flying, and James is still snowed in. Tune in!
Since attf is taking off the rest of the year (don't pout, don't cry), here is some latest things to keep in mind. Have a great Christmas! Thanks for the great year of support from listeners like yourself and vendors who believe in us. See you next year! (unless Diggs loses us).
Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays (whatever you celebrate) from the InsideHeli crew! We're taking this week off to be with our families and enjoy the season, but will return next week for our end-of-year wrap up show. Join us then, and here's hoping Santa brings you something fun. :)
Chris finally finishes the kitchen and goes flying. James is overjoyed with winter. Tune in!
Stuff We Talked About:
550 belt drive conversion parts: H60132 TREX 600 Metal Tail Belt Unit H60078 Metal Tail Drive Gear Assembly TREX 600 H55065 550XL Tail Drive Belt T-Rex 550
It's the Three Amigos (Chris, James and Bobby) for 101. The topics wander from what it's like to be a field rep, to listener mail, field etiquette, and other fun stuff. Tune in!
This week Chris and James are joined by Bobby and Daniel for the 100th episode! We were planning something special, but as it turns out it's just another ordinary BS session. Tune in!
James is back! Chris has not been flying, but is considering a new heli (surprise). Bobby bends his Rave. Hear a recap of the Chopperrazi event, and take a dip into the mailbag to help out fellow heli addicts. Tune in!
James is under the weather, so Chris has to enlist Bobby to fill in as co-host. That's OK, because Bobby has new toys to talk about! Hear a recap of the SRC event, as well as various other random topics. Tune in!
Due to an intense push to get his kitchen remodel finished (or at least functional) Chris hasn't had time to record. Tune in next week for a recap of the Southern Rotary Classic.
What show is this?! Crash from TheCrashCast joins in as well as DJMoose since Diggs thinks he can take time off to "work". We banter, toss news and cry.
James returns! Chris and James are joined by Bobby and Daniel, and they talk about fun-fly events and V-Bar setup. Chris babbles about his new LAHeli Sniper V2, James is speechless over the Radikal G30, and they dip into the listener email bucket for some brain-hurting discussion material. Tune in!
This week Lucien Miller from Innovative Designs drops by to talk about what Scorpion has in store for IRCHA, and Ben Warren dials in from sunny Doha, Qatar to give us an update on what he's been up to. This show is a bit longer than usual, with some odd sounds from a connection across the world, but still worth a listen. Tune in!
Guest Host Daniel joins drops by for this episode and tries to convince Chris to buy a Logo. Chris tells the tale of his Knight crash, and Daniel admits he broke his Protos too. Tune in!
No attf this week. We are either shooting fireworks with our families tonight or traveling. Have a great 4th of the July! Here are a few things to keep you busy until next week.
This week Chris and James talk to Bert Kammerer about the new T-Rex 550, and get his insight into flybarless vs flybar, electric vs nitro, and more fun stuff. Tune in!
This week Michael from SlowBipe.com joins us to help wrap up the SlowBipe review. Also we talk about some knock-off DSM receivers that have came to be. A Tip of The Week this episode and we kick out a Power System Corner questions from Innov8tive Desings
The current volume of MAKE is out (#22). Make is an O'Reilly publication
dedicated to those who love to make things themselves.
Make #22 is all about RC. attf was interviewed for this issue as well as the tallented, steam-bot builder and artist 'Crabfu'. Joining the interviews is Jim B from RCgroups and Chris Anderson - (who was interviewed by us in ATTF #87) the owner of DIYDrones.com.
You can find Make at your local book store or subscribe online.
This Happy Easter, Diggs and Lucien hang out and talk RC. Lucien is reporting from the high rises of Shanghai, while talking it up about some fresh gold gems. Who knows what's in store for #136, the person writing this has yet to listen! Your guess is as good as mine.
We made a few changes to the site, take a look around. The old 'Listener Map' is now a google map. You can add yourself if you have a gmail account. Also you can export this map for Google Earth, etc. We did move all the old Frapper Map data over to the new map.
Under 'Support' is our new attf iphone/touch application link. This takes you to iTunes store where you can acquire the app. Right now the app is more a "donation" for us, however it's great app that allows you to get the shows without a PC/Mac attached. More features will be added to the app soon enough and you will get the updates free.
With the winter doldrums dragging us down, (not to mention head colds) we're not recording this week. We'll be back next week with a gasser engine tuning and tips show.
Also, until Spring has sprung we will be switching to a bi-weekly format unless we have something exciting and new to talk about. You'll just need to listen to re-runs to get your IH fix!
To all the InsideHeli listeners in the US, Happy Thanksgiving! Chris and James are taking the week off to celebrate with their families, and no doubt will eat way too much food. :)
I know, it's terrible. No IH this week either! The guest we had lined up had schedule issues, and we had no backup plan or material. So, go fly something! Why are you here? :)
That's right! You can win a full year of RCM&E Magazine. We have 2 subscriptions to give away this month!
But how do I win?!
We want audio content. What that means is a mix-up of past shows. This could be a full mixup, comedy, serious, cool ATTF music with hosts sounds, whatever you can imagine! The full theme music can be had here. This is for InsideHeli and ATTF. Whatever you choose.
Eg: A 5min audio clip of Diggs saying how he lost a Radian. etc.
The audio must be in either mp3, wav or ogg. If you need a good audio editor that is free, check out Audacity. Email the clip to: contact@allthingsthatfly.com
We will let this contest go until Holloween night. We will then decide on two people who win the full year of RCM&E Magazine. Listeners will get a chance to hear these as we get them. (fun, fun) :)
and Go~

It's IRCHA week! That means half of the show (James) is at IRCHA having fun playing, and the other half (Chris) is at home being bored. We'll be back next week with lots of talk about how much fun James had.
Get ready! This will be our first live show. What this means is that we will host call-ins and talk with YOU! in celebration of episode #100.
* Sign up. This is also where the show will be and you can see the countdown. * If you do sign up on TalkShoe, then we will see your name in the list (instead of "guy11"). * You can call the number listed anytime during the show and will be on hold until we "un-mute you". Then you will be a live caller. * Turn down your computer speakers when you are a live caller. (lag between us and the live feed could hurt your brain!) * We may give out prizes to live callers! * If you are unable to make it live, the show will still be released as a normal show - so don't worry.
InsideHeli #59 will not be published for a few more days, so that we can include XFC coverage! That's right, James attended XFC and should have lots of good stuff to talk about. Wait for it!
I just bought the DX6i. I love the scroll wheel programing, very low power usages and features of this radio. However, once you buy something it's easy to find things wrong with it. There is no perfect radio in existence (listen to last show), so here is some basic help/fix/upgrades for the DX6i.
Diggs has been at SEFF for a few days now. Jamie flies out Tue28th AM. Giving that the field has no real internet connection we will be limited on what we can broadcast live.
No InsideHeli this week. James was planning to talk about the new flybarless setup on his Knight 3D, and we have a ton of listener emails to read, but a family emergency means Chris will be unavailable to record for several days. Sorry to disappoint, but you guys will just have to go back and listen to repeats until next week. ;)
UPDATE: Thanks for the well wishes! Chris' family is OK, this is more like a "rescue mission". Even though it involves sick people stuck out of state, they'll be OK.

Looking for 2to3 hosts for AllThingsThatFly.com - Sub - " a glider show"
This is going to be a specific show for: Gliders, sailplanes, thermal soaring, dynamic, DLG, etc.
This market is vast and will easily carry an active audience who (we know) would love to have a dedicated show to their hobby.
Chris (justplanechris) has years of gliding experience. He is willing
to help get it kicked started, but we will need at least 2 new hosts
since Chris will not be carrying the show (that's for you to do).
We would like 1-2 experts, then maybe a new enthusiast to ask the new'ish questions and learn with the audience.
We are working on a new website structure now and will have 3 different
RSS feeds for the 3 shows (both current shows and this new one).
Ideal hosts would be:
* Someone who has been doing slope, thermal, DLG for many years.
* Computer technical enough to understand skype and basic audio editing.
* Has 1-2 hours a week to dedicate to a podcast
* Speaks clearly, can keep a show moving.
* Is enthusiastic about RC and wants to help grow a network.
The second ideal host would be:
* Computer technical enough to understand skype and basic audio editing.
* Has 1-2 hours a week to dedicate to a podcast
* Speaks clearly, can keep a show moving.
* Is enthusiastic about slope/glide/DLG RC and wants to help grow a network.
If your interested, please e-mail us. We will then send the basic terms as well as talk to you over skype.
Go to the GiveAway page and check it out! Aprils' contest is from RCAdvisor. Also, HigherPlaneProduction is sponsoring the video drawing (which I think is going to be a trend)! Gotta love Heater and Fred!
Thanks to our generous vendors! Thank YOU for all your support.
First to announce, 2DogRC.com has a new kit of planes! Yep, a 3 pack of great flying planes ready to ship. These are not "AirHogs" quality. (Videos speak for themselves)
- 900mhz - 3 different plans - Fly great, just watch the videos!
Getting email and questions about listeners that want to make their own ATTF templates and items. You may do this under the CC license as long as your not selling ATTF gear. Feel free to create whatever you want.
It took 70 episodes but Dr David Halko from SuperFlyRC has joined us. Learn all about how these flying triangles came to be and new products to come! Of course, news and emails also enlighten this fun filled episode as well.
We talked a bit with Lucien Miller from innov8tivedesigns.com about a new segment for the show called "Power System Corner". We will have the audience (you) email questions about motors, power setups, setups for helis and planes and have Lucien himself come on and answer the question directly.
These will be short 5min segments that will be interjected into the shows effectively answering these tough questions.
Also be on the look out for giveaways sponsored by innov8tivedesigns! This means free Scorpion motors, gift certificates, speed controllers, etc.
So, get in your questions in now via our contact page. You can email them in using either email address, or use the voice mail system!
We may be doing small giveaways for each question answered as well, once we iron out the system!
I'm so sorry about getting the orders out for the shirts and hats the last couple months. My printer guy has been on vacation, but now is back. So the good news is that we will have shirts this week!!
If want to dive into flying-wing building, tuning, power setups or just want to learn all you can about building a fast wing the riteway- check out RiteWingRC.com and subscribe to the podcast.

It seems there really was a desire for an RC related podcast. Since over the year, (ya! Happy birthday to ATTF!) you can really see huge growth. We want to thank everybody who participates in the podcast and all of YOU - our listeners for a wonderful year. Hats off to Diggs and Chris for wonderful content and direction.
Here is a small preview of stats for the podcast. Here is too another year in progress.
Burke~
(Oh, yes we do have decals now in the store - go get some.)
No show this week because we record on Sundays and it's Easter! Hope everybody has a wonderful day and until next week, go back and play Desktop Tower Defense to keep you busy.
Quinn Coldiron, owner of Kalteisen, Inc. has graciously donated a Skeeter 30 kit to the prize bucket for the ATTF logo contest! Thanks, Quinn! We really appreciate your generosity.

This is a great intro to the GWS SlowStick. "Vanning" made this some time ago and suggests it is now horribly antiquated. However, there is great info within this guide that I would like to help Vanning share. Newbies Guide To the Slowstick
At this date, I would recommend the following for a good brushless slowstick (I think Diggs would agree as well). Motor 2 Servos 1825A ESC Prop Prop saver Lipos (or even the 1650's)
Trying to find that great deal to save some dough can be time consuming. Here is a list of the best ways to find those current deals on RC products. Coupon codes for RC and a whole lot more.
Just some quick code we did for our local community. Basically, we wanted a quick way to find somebody to fly with at the last minute. This allows us to talk and pick a spot to fly in. This is setup from the BoiseRC.com website (for the Idaho'ans). But you can take my code and modify it for a local forum group in your area.
Basically, just sing up at maps.google.com Create an account (a gmail account). Then click on "My Maps". Edit up your map as you wish. Once done, just right-click the KML link and "copy link location". Look at my source code on my page. Copy that into a text file Change my map link with yours (paste from the KML link) Also change your lat / long in the code as well. I made each fly spot a #. So we can talk about what number to fly at. You can zoom in and also choose satellite view so you can see just what the field really looks like.
Anyways, this is one of many ideas to find people who want to go fly with you. Mine is really basic, but I hope it helps. Another intergration may be to use Twitter, or Jaiku for SMS.
Have fun editing the code and coming up with ideas.
QuietRiot from RCgroups met up with me today. Let me get some photo's of his heli's and showed them off for me. We have some high-rez photo's of his Trex 450, Trex 600 and Trex 600 scale AirWolf. Little did I know he would con me into flying my first CP. The 600 of course! Once I hovered the 600, the 450 was just "cute" and not intimidating. Watching the lights and landing gear on the Wolf go with the switches on the TX is amazing. Here is photo's of them, and video of him flying. (no video of my hovering). QuietRiot possesses "chris style flying powers". However, watch closely on the AirWolf video- something goes astray.
This is kind of a "newbie" thing, but would have helped me out recently. Crystals. We (in the US) use 72Mhz band for our radios receivers (RX) and transmitters (TX). You must use the same channel of crystals in your RX and TX. Me, being new, was not sure how to take a Mhz rating, and match that with a channel. Keeping things simple here is a standard chart. Most are included. This is helpful if somebody is selling a "72.110Mhz TX crystal" and your RX crystal just says "CH 16".
We all want a nice Align Aluminum carry case for our sweet, ever so precious heli for taking it to an event, or showing it off at a family get-together. However they can be expensive for an "Align". The name costs too much for me! So after much searching and digging, I have found the measurements and comparable aluminum cases that are just as nice (in my opinion) for a fraction of the cost.
One option is the PROCASE 4 row euro CD case. I found the size is about the same as the Align Trex 450 case. You can choose your color as well, which is what the Align guys don't have. Also, check out this CD 4 row case as well on eBay. Nice, but only one color. Here is an older used case with about the same size dimensions.
Basically, I'd rather be buying nicer heli parts than a "brand -A" carry box. You can sticker it up, color/paint it. I will get getting one of these and since I have access to foam, I can make my own padding inside. Since I'm building a 300 size heli, I could even go a bit smaller.
